The Dodge Durango remains our Jim Manning Dodge Chrysler Jeep team's favorite mid-size three-row SUV. We love its roomy cabin, generous cargo space, safety and advanced tech features. We also appreciate that it manages to be extremely fuel efficient despite its formidable size.

Many Miles Per Gallon

The Dodge Durango comes in six trim levels and as many configurations, with fuel efficiency ratings varying across the fleet. A choice of two powerful engine types results in EPA estimated fuel efficiency ratings of 19/26 mpg city/highway. The actual engine lineup is four engines strong:

  • 3.6-liter Pentastar V6
  • 5.7-liter HEMI V8
  • 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8
  • 6.4-liter HEMI V8

The V6 churns out up to 295 horsepower, while the selection of HEMI engines boast horsepower ranging from 360 to 710.

All-Wheel Drive and Transmission

The Dodge Durango's fuel efficiency benefits from an all-wheel drive system, a system that sends engine torque directly to all four wheels. Meanwhile, an eight-speed automatic transmission consisting of wider gear ratios makes for smoother gear shifting and quicker acceleration.
